NPF Board

Our volunteer board members are local businessmen and women dedicated to making a difference in the community. Making a difference requires a sacrifice of time, talent, and resources - this Board is committed to its' role in the work of the Foundation, to bring about real change in people's lives for a stronger community.

William (Bill) Fleming

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Bill is an experienced Financial Executive and Attorney with extensive commercial banking and marketing expertise. After moving to the area in 2010, he has become active in several not-for-profit organizations including the Chamber of Commerce, and the Gulf Coast Community Foundation. He joined the Board of the New Paradigm Foundation in October, 2013. Bill also served in 2012 as Interim CEO and Chairman of the Board of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and is Treasurer and on the Board of Directors of Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club. He lives in Port Charlotte with his wife Barbara and their two rescue pups, Abby and Jack.

Steven Fishman

Steven, his wife Ruth and two children have lived in Englewood area for the past four years.

Steven is an Information Technology Sales Specialist and has spent the last 11 years at IBM, Oracle and currently is working with NetApp. 

After reading an article about The New Paradigm Foundation in a local newspaper, he felt  that his education in Media Studies Communication and Psychology would be a match for our organization and felt called to come to the Foundation and get involved. 

Steven belives strongly in not only creating awareness but also addressing  the homelessness and poverty that exists in our greater surrounding area.  He also believes in second chances and wants to give an example to his children as well on how important it is  to help others.


Dr. Paul Powers

Dr. Powers is a licensed psychologist, is the former chairman of the Massachusetts Board of Psychologists and a member of numerous professional organizations. Paul holds a bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree in psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He helped found 'The Management Corps for the Emerging East' a non-profit initiative to send American business volunteers to work in enterprises of the republics of the former Soviet Union in their transition to a free market economy with hands-on management skills and techniques. Paul is also a former U.S. Marine as well as a former licensed pipefitter.

Dr. Powers' work has been widely noted in the media such as The Wall St. Journal, National Business Employment Weekly, New England Business Magazine, hundreds of newspapers and radio stations nationwide and he has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, WNBC, NPR, and numerous other media outlets. He co-hosted 'CareerTalk', a call-in show, on a major Boston radio station.
